Types of Tourist Visas

A citizen of any foreign country generally should have a visa to go into the US. There are 2 kinds of such visas: a nonimmigrant visa intended for temporary stay and an immigrant visa for permanent residence in the United States. The nonimmigrant visa, also known as a “visitor” visa, can be purchased in two varieties, one meant for those coming to the U.S. for a short period for business (B-1) and people coming to the United States for pleasure or hospital treatment (B-2).

Misiti Global, PLLC wins asylum for Coptic Christian from Egypt

Egypt’s Coptic Christians have long felt like second-class citizens in their own country. They comprise 10 to 15% of a population of 82 million, and are by far the largest Christian community in the region. Now many fear that the power vacuum left after the overthrow of Hosni Mubarak is giving Muslim extremists free rein to torch churches and attack Coptic homes in the worst violence against the community in decades.

Our client is a Coptic Christian that was living in Egypt. He was beaten and severely injured by Muslim extremists in Egypt because he would not change his faith. The police did nothing and a blamed our client. He was forced to drop out of school and go into hiding.
Luckily, he escaped Egypt and was able to enter the US. We prepared his asylum application and thoroughly researched the subject. At the interview he was questioned about his persecutor’s and his faith. After about 6 months he was granted asylum and given employment authorization.
